Currently - May 2016

I realized that I skipped doing this post in April which is too bad because I think they are really neat snapshots of everyday life. They are also one of my favorite posts to read on other blogs. I will try to keep up from now on!

Listening to: Cleopatra by The Lumineers. I love this album! Although my default when I find a new band and/or album that I love is to listen to it over and over and over until I'm sick to death of it. We might be approaching that stage after a month of nonstop play.

Watching: Not much. I finished up Grantchester and Brooklyn 99 and I'm almost done with New Girl (I know it ended this week but I'm a few episodes behind). Sometimes I'll watch a random movie on Amazon Prime (most recently, Benny & Joon). I'm hoping I might be able to actually go see some new movies in the theater this year! I'd like to see Me Before You and The Light Between Oceans. I know many people don't feel this way but I really like seeing movie adaptations of books.

Loving: My summer work schedule - I have Fridays off through July!

Not loving: That next Tuesday I have a dentist appointment for (most likely) a root canal. I can hardly find words to express how much I am dreading this.

Wearing: New running shoes! I haven't bought new running shoes in two years, which I know seems absurd but I didn't run at all last year while I was pregnant. I've been wearing various incarnations of the Nike Pegasus for over a decade, but the latest version was changed significantly and hasn't gotten very good reviews, so I decided to try the Brooks Glycerin. (PS: Have you heard of Global Running Day? I'm in!)

Thinking about: Potty training. Sleep training. Parenting is pretty glamorous! (Please please comment below with any suggestions and tips you might have!)

Praying for: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self Control. (Galatians 5:22) And also that my dentist appointment isn't too miserable.

Craving: Dinner out at a nice restaurant... Hoping Jonathan and I can go out for our anniversary coming up on May 25th!

Eating: All the sandwiches. We recently bought a Panini press and it's been a game-changer.

Looking forward to: Some nice weather! For a long time Colorado has bragged about "300 Days of Sunshine" every year, but I'm pretty sure this year is an exception. Although I'd take a rainy May if it means we can avoid wildfires again this year.

Random semi-related questions: How do you feel about movie adaptations of books? What is your favorite type of sandwich?

Have a nice day!

  1. I'm looking forward to our first date night since Chloe next week, Chad bday is the 24th so I'm taking him out for an early supper. Happy anniversary on the 25th!
Potty training...I think just go all in, I her she'll do better than you think. Just be prepared for regression after, but I promise it is not that bad! And on bad days...wine.
Sleep training, I never did too much with Avery and when we did we did it was at 7 months to hit out here night feeding. We did cry it out, luckily it was only two nights. How many times a night is he up? I try really hard to only feed Chloe at the same time every night to keep her in a routine. If she wakes up at other times I let her fuss a bit or just go in and talk to her but don't pick her up.

    1. I am going to re-read your post on potty training right now!
Abel has been waking up once around 3 am for the past 3 months. He was drinking a huge bottle then and showed no signs of wanting to sleep longer on his own. So I started feeding him less and less and now the past two nights haven't given him anything but he's needed some help getting settled back down to sleep until morning...

  2. I love "Currently" posts too! They are such a great way to learn about our fellow bloggers. I have a panini press also and it's fabulous! Something about the resulting crispiness of the bread that makes sandwiches SO MUCH TASTIER. Yay for new running shoes - I wore the Brooks Glycerin in the past and it's a classic. I am so jealous that you have all those Fridays off from work! I wish you luck at your dentist appointment, hopefully it won't be as bad as you think. I'd never heard of Global Running Day until now, and I'm totally in, too!

    1. I just called my dentist and requested laughing gas for my apt tomorrow - I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but I have been SO anxious about it all week!
My husband has declared this the "summer of sandwiches" - We are so obsessed with the Panini press!

  3. I feel like we'd get along so well in real life :) I really enjoy watching movie adaptations too. It actually kind of bugs me when I end up seeing a movie BEFORE I've had a chance to read the book. I'm looking forward to both those movies, although I'm pretty confident I will be a mess during both of them. I cry SO easily in movies. (My husband does not get this lol). I love the Lumineers but I haven't actually listened to their new album yet! Must get on that. Good luck with potty training! I keep putting it off too - I know I need to just jump in but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet.

    1. Me tooooo! I always want to read the book first, and I usually like the book better, but I still like seeing the movie. (Two exceptions that I liked the movie better: All the Pretty Horses and Cold Mountain. OH, and The Martian.)
Potty training.... GAAAAH. Definitely get it taken care of before you have Baby #2.
